Laura Bassett grew up in New Hampshire, listening to the chanteys of the Mystic Sea Music Festival. He hosts the weekly podcast Get Up in the Cool: Old Time Music with Cameron DeWhitt and Friends, which features conversations and musical collaborations with today’s most influential traditional musicians. Cameron is the innovator behind pitchfork banjo, a three-finger clawhammer technique that allows the player unprecedented access to melody, harmony, and rhythms typically roped off from clawhammer players. With pitchfork-style, Cameron improvises over tunes in a way that most old time banjoists would only attempt with meticulous arrangement.

In addition to nyckelharpa, Amy plays fiddle, hardangfele, banjo, and guitar, and is trained in classical violin. She grew up immersed in American roots music, playing bluegrass with her family band, and has a BA in ethnomusicology from Portland State University. An accomplished performer and Mid-Atlantic Irish Fiddle champion by the age of 17, Brian also finds that the influences of many other musical styles and traditions make their way into his playing, which draws on both a wealth of traditional influence and an enthusiasm for new things. Upon graduating from high school, Phil would move to the Pacific Northwest and study jazz in Portland, Oregon before transferring to The Evergreen State College where he studied composition and recording. In a musical career spanning decades, he has performed, composed, and recorded extensively with groups from a diverse variety of genres including rock, jazz, Americana, Afropop, and klezmer, as well as playing in pit orchestras and vocal choruses for stage musicals on flute, clarinet, bass, and steel guitar. In addition, he has taught workshops for bluegrass bass and dobro. He currently lives in Olympia, Washington playing bass and dobro, and singing high tenor for the Oly Mountain Boys bluegrass band as well as bass/dobro/vocals in the cowpunk group; Lost City Remedy.

While studying at Carleton College in Minnesota, he was introduced to Celtic music and studied flute and smallpipes with acclaimed player Laura McKenzie. Cam performs with the band Keltoi, and is the founder and maker of Barter Loch Woodwinds.

Alex grew up in a household filled with folk music. They came up the Cincinnati Irish music scene, but were also continually drawn to bluegrass, old-time, maritime, and Americana; it was this love of various genres that led Alex to found the Vashon Sessions. Alex now lives in Seattle, and performs solo as well as with Countercurrent and the Waxwings.
